"Step Your Game Up!"

Good afternoon sports fans! Jeff Mac here on this Friday afternoon, I hope everyone is getting jacked up for Halloween tomorrow. If you’re not passing out candy to the kids, I hope your going to a costume party and get all liquored up. A game I like to play at these parties is who can get the drunkest. Let me just say I’m a pretty competitive person and hate losing. Make sure you all take a couple shots of Jack.Today I’m going to talk about the current situation we have with sideline reporters for football games. I was at my buddy Matt’s house last Saturday watching the Penn State vs. Michigan game. The sideline reporter they had was Holly Rowe. Ok people I’m going to be as nice as I possibly can, but man that is one ugly lady. It was also raining that day and they had her wearing some type of all blue poncho outfit. It looked like they were trying to quarantine her. I really had thought that Halloween had come a week early. I can understand why ABC would try to do that. I mean the conversation probably went something like this amongst the producers. Producer 1: “ Umm listen up guys, they sent Holly Rowe here to do the game today so we need to try and hide her on the sideline and we are not going to show her as much on camera as we might show Erin Andrews.” Producer 2: “Yea that’s a great idea, we will just give her a microphone and cover her up in a blue tarp so people won’t have to look at her. She will think that when she is talking she will be on TV, but we will just cut the video and play her audio.”

As I continued to watch football last weekend I began to take more of a notice of sideline reporters. Now to be honest I know that looks shouldn’t matter on who does what games, but it does in America. That’s just how our society works. Men want to see a young attractive reporter, which brings me to my next case. NBC has Andrea Kremer for their Sunday Night game. Last Sunday she was wearing some pink outfit with transition lens glasses. Umm not exactly taking the attractive approach there are we? One she is not attractive and two, what the hell is NBC trying to do when they tell her to wear that. No wonder NBC only does one NFL game a week. Shelly Smith is another reporter who needs to get the axe. She is not cute and I don’t want to see her while I’m watching football. Now Suzy Kolber isn’t bad looking at all. In fact if I got liquored up and did an interview with her, I might want to kiss her, Ala Joe Namath. Go get em Broadway Joe! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gc65NC44dSk

My solution to this problem is easy people. Clone Erin Andrews. She is the mecca of sideline reporters. Any reporter who has a stalker that travels from hotel to hotel and tries to videotape them is legit. In fact when Erin Andrews is doing a game they need to have an automatic picture in picture. By that I mean have her on the big screen and have the game in the small box in the corner of the TV. Okay people obviously I know this can’t happen, but come on game producers. It’s time to retire some of these old veterans and bring in a new draft class of new young talent. I’m sure there are some college co-eds ready to do just about anything “wink, wink” to get that reporter job. Don’t be stupid now producers it’s ok to use your seniority on these future entry level reporters. I know I would, if I was single. In closing I take a quote from Floyd “Money” Mayweather. “Step your game up!” TV networks. Have a safe Halloween and football weekend sports fans.
