Well it was only a matter of time before I talked about Gods chosen one. I mean every media outlet has discussed the concussion heard round the world. Will Timothy Richard Tebow play against LSU Saturday night? It is still too early to tell. Urban Meyer insists that the decision on whether or not Tebow plays Saturday is up to the Florida medical staff. Tebow as of right now has not been medically cleared. Urban Meyer said that does not mean that he will not play. Tebow could be cleared later in the week. Even if Tebow is cleared the question remains whether or not he should play, or if the gators even need him to win.
America let me introduce you to John Brantley. He is a redshirt sophomore from Ocala, FL. He threw 99 touchdown passes in high school which is a Florida state record, one more than Tebows 98 TD’s. Florida CAN win against LSU with Brantley playing. Brantley is a better pocket passer and has a stronger more accurate arm than Tebow. Florida does not need to score a ton of points to win this game. The gators defense gives up just over 7 points a game per contest this year. Brandon Spikes, Carlos Dunlap, and Major Wright are the defensive leaders on that team and trust me they will be ready to go on Saturday.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IQShWogLzw Brantley just needs to pull a Trent Dilfer and manage the game well. The defense will win that game for Florida. In the Urban Meyer era Florida is 6-1 against teams ranked in the top 5 and LSU is 13-15 all time against Florida in Baton Rouge.
LSU is pretty damn lucky to be 5-0. They got bailed out by the officials last week against Georgia, even the SEC said so. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4534433 LSU barely got by one of the worst teams in the SEC which is Mississippi State, who is coached by former gator offensive coordinator Dan Mullen. You think that Urb might have a few conversations more than usual this week with his former coordinator? I personally think LSU is a bit overrated. One stat though that is in their favor is that LSU is 31-0 in night games at home in their last 31 efforts. That stat is mind boggling. One thing that I think helps the gators is the fact that LSU has to prepare for Tebow and Brantley. They don’t have much film on Brantley, so they probably wont know very many of his tendencies. The early line out of Vegas has Florida as a 7.5 favorite, so something will have to give this weekend. I am not sitting here saying that Florida will win with Brantley at QB. I am saying that LSU should respect him because he is no scrub backup. The kid has an arm. God Bless.
