Upon Further Review

Hey sports fans Nick Bradshaw here I am going to start contributing with the big man.

Upon further review: These officials are brutal. Why does it seem that officials are getting worse and worse each post season? I'll tell you what I am sick and tired of seeing NFL officials and Major league baseball umpires change the game with their blown calls. I will openly admit that I am an NBA homer, but I think the NBA officials who get the most criticism are the best at their jobs. Also, the group that gets the least amount of criticism NFL officials; are the worst. Case in point Broncos vs. Patriots the taunting call on Brandon Merriweather (don’t take this as me supporting the Patriots because I don't), but this call was awful the official was throwing the flag before the play was over. Yet there was hardly a mention of it and it was a crucial moment of the game and it changed the outcome. I am sure the guy was thinking about who he was going to sell health insurance to on Monday. This doesn't even cover the "roughing the passer" penalty. This is like flag football when trying to hit the quarterback. I am not totally against the rule I think the QB needs protecting but not to the point where you can’t hit the man. If a quarterback gets hurt then so be it, that’s a part of the game. They are football players and they are there to get hit. Every time the quarterback gets hit I have to chug vodka and hope my team is not called for a roughing the passer and if it is called then I have to drink some more. The referees are taking over the game and as much as you say "refs don’t decide the game" well they may not decide the game but they do change the out come and it has become ridiculous. The NFL has to fix the problems with the officials. The first thing they need to do is make the officials work one job, they shouldn’t be out working regular jobs during the week they need to work only for the NFL. These guys get paid well enough to only work one job. These guys don’t need to be thinking about their next big deal on the way to the game they need to think about not blowing the calls.

Now on to the umpires. How long do you think it will take MLB to ask TBS to take the K-Zone off the screen for each pitch? Is there anything worse than watching three straight pitches called strikes that are clearly out of the K-Zone? Well, there is one thing and that would be CB Bucknor working the bases. How bad can he be? I don't think he has made a correct call all year. Every time there is a close play I cringe that CB is not going to be on the base path to blow a call. Once again we hear nothing from MLB about the blown calls they just go about there high horse ways and think they are perfect. Well CB is bad, but Phil Cuzzie may be the winner for worst call of the year, how can a guy 10 feet from the ball miss it that bad. I have watched this reply a hundred times and I can’t figure out how he missed it. If I were Twins fan I would have lost it and I would have been uncontrollable. If I was at the game, I would have taken my jail time for the sake of my team. Which brings me to the reason why do they have umpires down the line? They are there for one call a game and Phil missed. It makes no sense to me; if they are too big to get down the lines maybe MLB should look to fix that. Major League Baseball needs to introduce a diet plan for their umpires some of these guys cant get down in a squat to find the strike zone. Maybe MLB should make these guys mix in a salad every once in a while. How can MLB feel good about watching Joe West bend over and run down the baselines to make a call? Bud Selig can’t be saying "look at Joe go man he really got down the line. He is the definition of health." What he is really thinking is "OH NO ball down the line god I hope Joe doesn’t break a hip." You ever wonder why Bud looks like that. He drinks a lot and I mean a lot.

  1. How does Phil Cuzzi miss that call, and call that a foul ball? His only job is to call fair/foul down the left field line and he blew it. Terrible break for the twins in that game.
